Business Start Up - Are you looking to start up a small business in the UK?
Being an entrepreneur I am always looking at different ways to make money in the UK. I like the UK because wherever I am in the world, my money seems to be worth more.
I have bullet pointed areas, click the link for an explanation on small business startup as I see it.
Is there a demand for what you want to do / sell?
Basically you can have an idea to build or make or do something and it may seem great to you - BUT - if no-one wants what you are doing, there really is little point.
Where to do research
You can use the internet as a great research tool for business startup - but basically you need to look to where your demand comes from. For example if you want to be a property investor and rent out houses - talk to the letting agents and find out what they have most demand for.
Do you have the funds?
Funding quite often is a great stumbling block for a lot of people - but sometimes learning the skills to do something yourself can save you a lot of money. It was cheaper for me to learn how to build websites that to pay someone to do it for me ... if you get my meaning. Lots of banks do small business funding but all of them will ask for a proper business plan first.
Have you got the time / dedication?
Setting up a business can take a lot of time - if you already work it could be eating into your normal family / social time. Can you take the stress? Are you really motivated? Will it damage any relationships you have?
Will it really give you what you want in the end?
What really is your goal? if it is to have time to do things with your family - will it really do this? is it a passive income business (there is lots of info on passive incomes on this site). Take a really good hard look, and see if it will really give you what you need.
What is an entrepreneur?
Definition: Entrepreneur is a word taken from the French that refers to a person who undertakes and operates a new enterprise or venture, and assumes some accountability for the inherent risks.
Entrepreneurs are normally people who can step out of the box and take high risk in business. They usually have a lot of gut feeling about the business they are in and can run with that as a satisfactory business risk.
Lots of entrepreneurs make several attempts before they get off the ground - but are not put off by their failings - they look at is as experience. They would be more likely to self teach than go on a course.
